Dear All,

It’s been a tough few days here at the handmadehobart camp, and it’s
with much regret that we need to inform you that handmadehobart is no
longer in operation. We found out on Wednesday morning that due to a
change in policy, the school’s insurance will no longer cover us for
public liability, something which we obviously cannot operate without.

We have spent the past few days exploring our options and waiting for
a ‘lightblub moment’ to solve this problem, which sadly just hasn’t
arrived. The truth is that we just can’t afford to pay for public
liability insurance and remain true to our not-for-profit ideals
without raising our stall holder fees considerably, nor do we think
it fair to ask our stall holders to provide their own insurance, hence
the decision to cease operation. It hasn’t been an easy decision or
one made lightly.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support
over the past nine months. We have enjoyed every minute of it and met
some wonderful people along the way.

All the best!

Penni, Sue and Marg

  1. oh dear lord.. this is terrible....

.. after so much hard work, you have to fold....

.. i would be more than happy to pay at least triple the stall fees, as i have always thought that the fees you have previously charged were way too low...

.. there must be some option somewhere for you be able to keep this wonderful artist hub going...
